Mark Russell, CIO (Real Estate), Federated Hermes Limited

Mark joined Federated Hermes in February 2024 from Orchard Street Investment Managers, where he was a Partner. Before this, he was a Senior Fund Manager at Legal & General Investment Management for over 10 years, running the flagship £3.5bn managed property fund. Mark began his career at Jones Lang LaSalle (formerly Jones Lang Wootton) and has also held positions at Prestbury Investment Holdings Ltd. Mark is a chartered surveyor and holds the IMC and the IPF diplomas.

Selena Ohlsson, Director - Real Estate Client Solutions, Federated Hermes Limited

Selena joined Federated Hermes in February 2023 and is Director of Real Estate Client Solutions. She is responsible for the strategic growth of the real estate platform within the private markets business, working alongside senior management on strategic partnerships, as well as the design, delivery and equity raising for new real estate vehicles, and other opportunities. 

Before this, Selena was at Legal & General Investment Management for nine years as a Real Estate Product Specialist and Head of Client Relations for Real Assets, focusing predominantly on institutional investors.

Laasya Shekaran, Director, Pensions for Purpose 

Laasya is responsible for working with our Community, developing content and knowledge, and driving forward collaborative initiatives across the industry.    

Laasya is passionate about approaching pensions and investment with a systems lens and understanding how these sectors interact with the wider social and environmental systems they exist within.    

Laasya is a CFA charterholder with experience working with a range of asset owners as an investment adviser, with a focus on corporate defined benefit pensions. Laasya is a regular speaker at industry conferences and events, and is also an experienced podcast host, and presenter of the Pensions for Purpose podcast. Laasya is an advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion and is particularly passionate about anti-racism activism. She has previously won the Women in Pensions and Women in Investment Rising Star awards.

Pensions for Purpose exists as a bridge between asset managers, pension funds and their professional advisers, to encourage the flow of capital towards impact investment. Our aim is to empower pension funds to seek positive impact opportunities and mitigate negative impact risks.
