In today’s world, health, environmental and societal challenges are connected, and have implications for long-term investment strategies. This meeting will highlight how innovation and informed investment can help address risks and promote equitable, sustainable outcomes.
Professor Branwen Morgan of Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) will discuss the health and environmental impacts of antibiotic-related waste, including how it affects land and water, biodiversity and contributes to the pressing issue of antimicrobial resistance.
Maisie Borrows Ahmad of LCP Health Analytics will explore why the topic of health equity matters to health systems and industry more than ever before, and why improving health inequalities, particularly for women, is essential for both social equity and sustained economic growth.
Abbie Llewellyn-Waters of Jupiter Asset Management will draw on her experience of investing in leading global companies to highlight innovations in drug diagnostics, testing, vaccine development and artificial intelligence that can accelerate the journey from research to market, driving better health outcomes. Abbie will also emphasise the role investors can play in supporting equitable healthcare delivery while still achieving strong risk-adjusted returns over the long-term.
We will then broaden the discussion for delegates to share insights and views.

Speakers
Professor Branwen Morgan PhD, Minimising Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Lead, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)
Branwen has held numerous senior roles that bridge academic institutions, government, publicly listed companies and not-for-profit organisations. Branwen’s journey from molecular biologist to journalist, consultant and influential science leader in antimicrobial resistance exemplifies the power and flexibility of a portfolio-based career in the life sciences sector. She is currently a research director and lead of the AMR Consortium at Australia’s national science agency CSIRO, where she has significantly improved the visibility of AMR amongst policymakers; has been instrumental in forming new industry, research and government consortia; and has catalysed millions of dollars of investment into AMR research. Her work emphasises the interconnections between antimicrobial use and resistance across the human, animal and environmental sectors, addressing research implementation and policy barriers. Branwen is also a sought-after media commentator, reaching a national and international audience of over 12 million people in the last two years through various media channels.
