I am a big believer in the idea that the financial sector does not exist in a vacuum.
Societal and environmental issues around us impact what happens in the financial sector, and the way the financial sector behaves impacts the society and environment around us too.
There is no better example of this than the pensions industry.
Pension schemes tend to be large, long-term investors, ones who are likely to be ‘universal owners’ (meaning they own a representative slice of the global economy), and so their investments are hugely impacted by the state of the world around them.
Not only that, but pension schemes also represent a huge number of people from all walks of lives – people from different generations, job types, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
This is why I believe that it is so important for pension schemes to have people and planet at the heart of the way they are run.
At Pensions for Purpose, I am proud to bring people from all across the industry together to work to this common goal – to improve outcomes for people, planet and pensions alike!
My background has been in investment consulting and I am a CFA Charterholder. I was the recipient of a number of industry awards including the Women in Pensions Rising Star Award and the Women in Investment Rising Star Award.
I am proud to be a woman of colour in this industry and am passionate about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. I believe that our differences make life so much more interesting, and I believe everyone has a right to feel safe being themselves.
