Why is B Corp important?

History shows the value of considering employees and societal well-being for business success. Despite past narratives that solely emphasised shareholder profits, there is a growing recognition of interdependence and stakeholder importance, exemplified by the B Corp movement.

Pensions for Purpose’s journey towards becoming a profit-for-purpose business has involved embedding impact considerations into our articles of association, and focusing on including people, planet and profit in boardroom discussions. This approach aligns with the ecosystem of impact investing, showing how better business and impact investing are connected.

Why does B Corp matter?

Being a B Corp ensures our business decisions are driven by the needs of society and the environment, rather than just financial returns.

The B Corp impact assessment is rigorous, evaluating our policies, processes, supply chain and various other areas such as employee well-being, and diversity, equity and inclusion. This assessment allows us to identify areas where we can make positive changes and take proactive steps toward a more sustainable and responsible business model.

Having obtained B Corp certification, we aim to go further and inspire other businesses to follow suit. We intend to show it is possible but also profitable to prioritise social and environmental impact while delivering strong/solid/good/high/decent returns.
